Reduce, Reuse, Recyle

Zero Waste is a philosophy and a goal. Only by “closing the loop” can we hope to develop a sustainable economy.

The idea is to reduce consumption as much as possible by using design-for-environment in all products and their packaging, and to make all products and packaging recyclable.

What do “zero waste” and “sustainable economy” mean to you ?

To me, it means frequent trips to the recycling depot.

How frequent ? As frequent as five days a week, 8 times a week.

Luckily, the depot is unexpectedly clean and non-smelly.

The most interesting thing in the recycling depot is the enchanted Volkswagen found in the staff parking lot.

If this lovely van is going to be recycled, I am sure everyone will love to take it.

Sometimes, we can even meet the vintage fire engine running on the road nearby.  It was not as slow as I thought of.

  2. The van makes me think of the movie Back to the Future; also bands like the Beach Boys. The fire engine makes me think of Beatles song Penny Lane. Oh I have to say you are living in the good old days.

  3. I like Volkswagen. I once drove a Golf when I was in HK.

You won't believe, my small son loves to watch Back to Future, no matter that is animation, movies 1, 2 & 3. He watches Back to Future regularly a few times a week. He memories all the details and lines in it. Funny.

  5. Uncle Alan, I have asked him just now. Michael said he is only a little fan of Michael J Fox but he loves the story of time traveling which he believes it will come true one day.

  6. I bet he won't like Christopher reeve / Jane seymour's somewhere in time. This should be a good movie but for me It's too boring.

  7. He won't like Somewhere in time as he likes adventures. They also like very few specific love stories. Crazy, his brother likes the scene between Fiona and Shrek and he himself only likes the plot-line about cats love in Warriors.
