During and After + East to West

During today’s mass, we heard the Psalm 103.  Like other Psalms of David, Psalm 103 emphasises God’s loving, parental relationship with human beings.  The Bible reveals God as eager to forgive and full of compassion for those who turn to Him.

Verse says, “as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.”

Why east to west instead of north to south?

It is because going north to south is limited, eventually you will arrive at a point when you are no longer in the north and you can only be said to be in the south.  East to west, on the other hand, is unlimited.  You can always travel west without ever going east.

God has put an everlasting separation between us and our past transgressions once we ask for His forgiveness.

After the mass we went home. When we stopped at an intersection, the car behind us swerved into our lane. But the driver did not brake soon enough, and his car collided in ours. Fortuitously, the automobile was not gravely damaged, and the passengers were safe and sound.

Thank you, God.  Thank you for hearing our prayer.

Psalms 103(102):1-2.3-4.8.10.12-13.
Of David. Bless the LORD, my soul; all my being, bless his holy name!
Bless the LORD, my soul; do not forget all the gifts of God,
Who pardons all your sins, heals all your ills,
Delivers your life from the pit, surrounds you with love and compassion,
Merciful and gracious is the LORD, slow to anger, abounding in kindness.
Has not dealt with us as our sins merit, nor requited us as our deeds deserve.
As far as the east is from the west, so far have our sins been removed from us.
As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on the faithful.

The Lord is kind and merciful

Lyrics

Refrain
The Lord is kind and merciful.
The Lord is kind and merciful.

Bless the LORD, O my soul;
and all my being, bless his holy name.
Bless the LORD, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits.

He pardons all your iniquities,
heals all your ills.
He redeems your life from destruction,
crowns you with kindness and compassion.

Merciful and gracious is the LORD,
slow to anger and abounding in kindness.
Not according to our sins does he deal with us,
nor does he requite us according to our crimes.

As far as the east is from the west,
so far has he put our transgressions from us.
As a father has compassion on his children,
so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him

  2. I can still remember the long brake sound of that car. A bit strange - I were unexpectedly calm at that moment.
